Releases
Project Management Committees (PMCs) vote on a final version of software to make the act of making a release - a formally available product to the public - as an act of the ASF as an organization (and not necessarily the individual rolling the release).
There are a number of policies and guidelines around how to make an Apache release. These include:
- Legal policies, to ensure licensing is correct throughout any release.
- Governance policies, to ensure proper oversight by the PMC of the actual release.
- Technical policies, ensuring validation and backup of actual release files.
- Security policies, providing for reporting and verifying issues and release security.
